January Patchwork

1/22/11
The boys like to spend every minute they can at the academy. Austin was off, so he brought Tustin and Jeremy out to play with Laken.   A beautiful day  - 59 degrees.  I bragged to Brandon that it was 70, but hey, it was snowing in SLC!

We went across the street to the mini-track.  The boys love to go round and around.
Austin was taking them up and down hills – sometimes even getting them stuck!

Then time for a break – let’s play in the sandpile.  Laken had brought some construction toys from my house, and of course, Tustin had the grave digger truck that he got from Jaime’s car the minute she drove up!

Some of them are looking pretty tired, but aren’t ready to give up yet!

Laken started to do brodies in the sand.   He continued to do this later on the cement by the garage,  and with Jeremy also riding it was an accident waiting to happen.  Sure enough, Laken ran into the side of Jeremy who turned and ran into the huge pot by the sidewalk knocking it over and spilling dirt all over.
Laken was devastated and promptly got off of the 4 wheeler, sat on the ground and put his hands over his eyes.  He wouldn't budge.  I couldn’t get him to feel better.  Austin came over and said.  “You know Lakie, Travis Pastrana crashes doesn’t he?”  Laken nodded his head through his tears.  Austin continued, “Well, when he crashes he Laughs!  He Laughs and then gets right back on it.”   Lakey looked at him questioningly and when he saw that Austin was serious, he got up and got right back on the 4 –wheeler.  (Good job Austin!)

Uncle Bubba and Aunt Summer here for the weekend! (1/15/2011)

Laken’s favorite thing when Brandon and Summer come is waking them up in the morning.  “Stay Here Gma!”  He’ll tell me with his hand up stopping me.  Then he goes in and jumps on the bed and on both of them.  Little does he realize that I don’t send him in until I get a text or call from Summer telling me they are awake!
There are always good stories to tell  -

But then he wants Brandon’s phone to play the “bird game”.

Brandon and Summer hadn’t seen “Mean Duck Park” so we had to go there first thing.  Laken isn’t very excited to have Bub and Summer here, is he?

The ducks and Geese were waiting for us and they didn’t disappoint.  They were just as scarey as ever.   A family tried to have a picnic and within a few minutes, the ducks had started attacking and kids were crying.  It was carnage.

What a fun group - ready for some mean duck park play time.  Laken is stretching out – getting ready for all of the wheelies he is going to pop.

The girls are hanging out, playing with Sawyer.

And the boys are just catching up – solving all of the world’s problems.

Sawyer better watch out – No – Laken always screeches to a halt just in time.

Here is the jump - look at that air!  (Notice the tongue?)  Remember the name is Laken Blaine Gardner Travis Pastrana Superhero!
Then on to the academy – How do you like the look of the full face green helmet?
Summer and Brandon are practicing how to take care of kids –

Really,  Bubba?  Cheetos?

Then it is off for some 4-wheeling.
Brandon is helping get the 4-wheeler running for Laken –

Then for Jaime and Sawyer.  Are you ever going to be able to ride, Bub, or do you just work on the 4-wheelers?

Sawyer is learning just which buttons to push.   Jaime has to turn the kill switch on or Sawyer will push the start button.
Jeremy is trying to convince Sawyer that it is his turn!
Sawyer loves her Aunt Summer taking her for rides.
They went on a ride out on the dirt roads.  Laken is showing Grandpa just where to go.

Tustin loves to ride on the back.  Many times he will sit on the big 4-wheeler in the garage just waiting for someone to come and take him for a ride.

Grandma went to California  with Dana and Colleen for the weekend to see Tray and Juan (and muffin of course.) Sawyer always misses Grandma when she is gone, and will go and pound on her door wanting to be let in.  When Grandma came home Sunday night, Sawyer was so glad to see her!  I think the feeling was mutual.

More Academy Fun! January 14, 2011

Another day at the academy riding the 4-wheelers and riding the horses.  This time Destiny is there with us.
Jeremy and Laken love the green 4 wheeler.  They are so good about taking turns –(most of the time).
Sawyer doesn’t care as long as someone is taking her for a ride!

Tustin found Laken’s Gravedigger Truck and couldn’t focus on much else.  Guess we know what to get him for his birthday!

What more could a little boy want?  A pile of dirt, Gravedigger truck trailer and 4 wheelers to watch!

Even Gma Kacky get’s into the act taking Sawyer for a ride.

You’re not stopping are you Gma?

(How can I refuse those eyes?)

Molly, Sakora, Ace and Grandpa D watch the fun!

Jeremy and Laken are  getting to be experts on  the green machine!

Then it’s over to the horses to give Destiny a ride – (she missed out yesterday).

She looks like a pro sitting up there!
Tustin loves to feed the horses – He’s not afraid  of Honey at all!

(Equal opportunity – here’s some for Snickers too!)

Sawyer is not too sure of the horses.  Those teeth look awfully big!

But finally she get’s brave and pets Laina’s nose.

Grandma and Grandpa Seare used to say each day was “Just another day in paradise.”  That’s how I feel as I am surrounded by my kids and my Grandkids.  It just doesn’t get any better than this!

4-Wheeling and Horses?

Laken thinks that he should be able to ride 4-wheelers every day. ..and I guess he can!  Today Jeremy was there with him and they had a lot of fun.  I am amazed at how coordinated they are with them.  When we asked them to park them in the garage, they both could ease them exactly into the small spaces left for them in the garage.

Sawyer loves riding as much as Laken! Take her off and she gets very upset!  She said her first two word combination yesterday - "Hi Ace"!  Jaime and I both heard it.  (The only two words she knows).
We wondered why Jer was kneeling beside his 4-wheeler – we thought maybe he was having engine trouble.

When Jaime went over to check on him…She found that his hands were cold and  so he was warming his hands from the engine heat.  Pretty smart kid!

Then just when you thought that the academy couldn’t get any more fun, Jay  Lane brought the first group of horses to the corral across the street.  So, Snickers, Honey, Laina and Misty are the boy’s new best friends.   (Besides Bubba and Summer  of course!)
They had fun feeding the horses baby carrots right out of their hands.
Then they got a ride!  Laken looks pretty good sitting up there.  He is grabbing that handful of mane pretty darn tight.

Jeremy was interested in the “shoes” that they put on the horses.  He wanted to see each one.
Jeremy learned how to yell “Yee Haw!”

Even Sawyer loved the horses.  She kept calling them “Ace!”     (Kind of a big Ace!)

After we left, she kept trying to get back over to the horses.  We're going to have to watch that little girl

Ace doesn't seem afraid of them at all.  He was under their feet, following them around when they were taking the kids , and when the horses would race from one end of the corral to the other, he would race right along beside them in the street.
